Moderated by Aaron Mahnke, host of Podcast “Lore”.

Show Description:

Podcast pioneer Dan Carlin began podcasting in 2005 before many saw the value and impact of the emerging medium. To date, his award-winning podcast Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History has been downloaded more than 100 million times. Carlin is the co-creator of the 2019 award-winning “immersive memory” First World War virtual reality experience War Remains (currently on exhibit at the World War One Museum and Memorial in Kansas City).

Carlin’s passion for the past, politics, and storytelling have provided audiences with memorable listening experiences and “appetized” a new appreciation for history. He was also the host of the popular political commentary podcast, Common Sense.

He is also the author of the New York Times 2019 bestseller The End is Always Near: Apocalyptic Moments from the Bronze Age Collapse to Nuclear Near Misses. Carlin broke into the television news business in Los Angeles in 1989. Between 1992 and 2002, he was a television news reporter and a radio broadcast journalist in the Pacific Northwest.

Carlin, a graduate of the University of Colorado, lives with his wife and two teenage daughters in Eugene, Oregon.
